Global Fund for Children partner Atina wins prestigious international award
Atina received the Child10 Award, presented by Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden, in recognition of its work in Serbia fighting human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
On October 18, 2022, EU Anti-Trafficking Day, GFC partner Atina received the Child10 Award, which recognizes civil society organizations working to combat human trafficking and other forms of commercial sexual exploitation of children and youth.
Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden presented the award to Marijana Savić, the Director of Atina and a GFC Board member. Atina, based in Serbia, was one of ten European civil society organizations, selected from more than 130 nominations, to receive the award this year.
“The work of the organization Atina is guided by the needs of survivors of human trafficking, exploitation, and gender-based violence and is created together with them,” Savić said in a press release announcing the award on Atina’s website.
Atina has assisted survivors of human trafficking for 20 years. The organization has received numerous awards for its work, including GFC’s Sustainability Award and the With and For Girls Award. Atina first became a GFC partner in 2007, and Savić has served as a member of GFC’s Global Board of Directors since 2020.
