Safeguarding

Global Fund for Children partners with community-based organizations around the world to help children and youth reach their full potential and advance their rights. We are deeply committed to protecting those most at risk and to acting as a role model for child- and youth-serving organizations.

At GFC, we believe all people have a right to live their lives free from violence and any abuse of power regardless of age, gender, sexuality, sexual orientation, disability, religion, political beliefs, or ethnic origin and because of that we have built a strong safeguarding culture at GFC. Our safeguarding policy and practices reflect this commitment to anyone who comes into contact with GFC, whether they are staff, partners or stakeholders.

GFC commits to working with partners within their existing culturally and contextually relevant concepts, such as child protection, safety, security, well-being, care, and protection to enable us to facilitate meaningful safeguarding journeys.

GFCs new safeguarding approach launched in 2025. With this new approach we made new commitments to our partners:

  • GFC recognises the power we hold as a funder in our relationship. We commit to you to be accountable for our actions and listen to any feedback on our safeguarding approach.
  • GFC will not automatically suspend funding if our partners have a serious safeguarding incident, we will work with through these difficult times to find solutions.

GFC is committed to being accountable to our staff, partners and stakeholders. We have a Code of Conduct which all staff must adhere to that can be found in our Safeguarding Policy. We have an anonymous reporting line to raise concerns confidentiality about GFC or one of our staff. The platform, Safe Call has a hotline and email platform and have over 150 language options. You can find your local number here: https://www.safecall.co.uk/file-a-report/telephone-numbers/ or file a report online here: https://www.safecall.co.uk/file-a-report/.

GFC is also committed to language justice within our Safeguarding approach, and you can find our policy in 8 languages: English, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, French, Ukrainian, Thai, Bengali and Hindi.
