Every child deserves the chance to learn, grow, and dream. We work closely with our partners to make sure children across the world can learn, play, and go to school. We are committed to helping every child reach their potential through equal access to quality education.
Half of the world’s population is under 30, with more than 2.4 billion young people under age 18. These young people are eager for education that is engaging, equitable, accessible and relevant in an increasingly complex, competitive, and connected world. Yet, far too many still don’t have the opportunity to attend school or gain essential skills due to challenges like gender, ethnicity, conflict, and economic status. Together with our partners, we help children everywhere access the education they deserve.
From early childhood, to secondary school, to university or vocational training, GFC supports educational initiatives that inspire young minds and open doors to opportunity. We place a strong emphasis on girls’ education and work to address the current and historical inequities that have made it harder for girls to access education.
For children who bring unique strengths and perspectives – whether they’re refugees, have disabilities, are survivors of trafficking, or are child laborers – we work with community-based partners who recognize and build on their abilities through innovative programs such as developmental therapy and alternative education and literacy courses . For young people, we work with partners who support them to gain life skills, explore different career opportunities, deepen their social and environmental awareness through the arts and extracurricular activities and ultimately, provide them with the tools they need to make smart decisions, build financial resilience, and shape their own futures with confidence.
