
Akashi Kaul
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Fellow (William Ascher Fellow)
As Global Fund for Children’s William Ascher Fellow, Akashi Kaul works on incorporating participatory methods in GFC’s monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) practice, while also assisting with refining GFC’s current MEL policy and structure. Akashi is a PhD candidate in the Education Policy program at George Mason University, scheduled to graduate in summer 2019. Her dissertation focuses on understanding how evaluators practice participatory methods in international development evaluation, focusing specifically on issues of power, voice, and agency. Prior to advanced graduate work, she was a communications, advocacy, and evaluation associate for the Azim Premji Foundation. She is proficient in program design, monitoring, and evaluation, particularly for projects, policies, and programs with a social justice and equity focus. While at the University of Pennsylvania, she worked at the Netter Center for Community Partnerships as a Wharton Social Impact Intern. She was also American Evaluation Association’s Graduate Education Diversity Internship Program Coordinator for 2017-2018. Akashi has a BA in English Literature, an MA in Communication Studies, and an MSEd in International Educational Development.
