Global Fund for Children named a finalist for the Catalyst 2030 Systems Change Awards

Catalyst 2030, a global community of social change innovators, has selected Global Fund for Children as a finalist for the inaugural Systems Change Awards in the Philanthropic Intermediary category.

GFC and the other finalists were chosen from more than 200 nominations submitted by Catalyst 2030 members and selected by a General Assembly vote as well as esteemed global development leaders who served as judges.

The finalists include philanthropic, government, multilateral, and business leaders and organizations that embrace collaboration, co-creation, and the shifting of power dynamics to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals adopted by United Nations Member States in 2015.

The winners in each of the award categories will be announced at a virtual global awards event on March 25, 2021.

“At Global Fund for Children, we’re honored to be selected as a finalist for the Catalyst 2030 Awards,” said John Hecklinger, GFC’s President and CEO. “Like Catalyst 2030, we believe in breaking down barriers and taking smart risks to spark social change. That’s why we support visionary local leaders and organizations working in the heart of their communities to help children and youth reach their full potential and advance their rights worldwide.”

Catalyst 2030 was launched at the World Economic Forum in Davos in January 2020 with the aim of building collaboration across sectors to unleash systems change toward attaining the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. This global movement comprises more than 500 proven social entrepreneurs who are active in over 180 countries and who directly reach an estimated two billion people.

The finalists and awardees are allies who understand that many of the traditional ways of funding and partnering with social entrepreneurs are falling short. They recognize that collaboration, long-term funding, community perspective, and local knowledge are key to achieving these goals.
