We stand in solidarity with Black communities and against systemic racism, as a partner with grassroots organizations worldwide. We add our name to the millions demanding justice. We condemn institutionalized racism, state violence, and unequal justice.
Now, more than ever, is the time to speak out.
We must teach our children about systemic racism and how to dismantle it.
We must amplify the voices of youth leaders on the frontlines calling for change.
We must stand up for our values of equality, justice, and nonviolence.
We recognize that the path toward meaningful change is complex, and that it will take all of us to make progress – individual by individual, community by community, and country by country. We commit to uprooting the institutionalized racism present in philanthropy and global development by shifting power to grassroots organizations. We pledge to incorporate a greater lens of racial justice into our programming and grantmaking. We will work to fund grassroots solutions with and for young people around the world, with an emphasis on equity and freedom from violence.
Grassroots organizations and movements are leading the call for change. We can – and must – lend our support to the organizations and leaders having a direct impact on the ground and supporting Black communities. For our community members in Washington, DC, two organizations to start with are Black Lives Matter DC and BYP100’s D.C. Chapter.
Global Fund for Children (GFC) UK Trust, created in 2006, is a UK registered charity (UK charity number 1119544). We work to generate vital income, create new fundraising opportunities, and raise awareness of the invaluable work of GFC’s grassroots grantees. Our aim is to extend the reach of GFC in the United Kingdom, Europe, and beyond.
