Lizeth Villegas
Program Coordinator
Lizeth Villegas is part of the Americas team at Global Fund for Children, where she serves as the Program Coordinator for the U múukil xchu´upalo´ob-Niñas Valientes (Brave Girls) initiative in Yucatán, México. Lizeth has more than five years of experience in civil society spaces and local collectives that promote the rights of adolescents and youth in areas such as cultural identity, anti-racism, comprehensive sexuality education, leadership, violence prevention, and peace education. She has also participated in national and international youth leadership programs. Prior to joining GFC, Lizeth was a Project Coordinator at México y Caribe Jóvenes, A.C. where she promoted programs to strengthen the leadership of youth and adolescents, as well as rural and Indigenous communities, in Quintana Roo, Mexico, so they could become community change agents. Lizeth is an Indigenous young woman and has a bachelor’s degree in humanities. She is fluent in Spanish.
