Global Fund for Children announces new Board member

Global Fund for Children is pleased to announce that Kelly Pettit has joined the Global Board of Directors.

GFC’s directors and trustees provide guidance and leadership drawn from a deep body of expertise and knowledge. Their contributions are an integral part of our work supporting community-based organizations advancing the rights and opportunities of children and youth around the world.

“We are delighted that Kelly Pettit is joining GFC’s Global Board of Directors,” said Hayley Roffey, GFC’s Co-CEO. “Kelly brings a blend of strategic insight, extensive regulatory experience, and genuine dedication to community-centered work. Her values and experience resonate strongly with GFC’s mission, and I’m eager to partner with her as we continue advancing community-led solutions that create lasting opportunities for children and young people. I know her guidance will be invaluable as we deepen our impact and expand our support to local leaders around the world.”

Meet Kelly Pettit

Kelly Pettit is the Managing Director, Chief Compliance Officer, and Associate General Counsel at General Atlantic. Based in New York, she leads the firm’s investment funds practice, oversees its global regulatory compliance program, and supports general corporate matters as part of the Legal & Compliance team. She also oversees General Atlantic’s privacy program and previously served on the firm’s IDEA Council.

Before joining General Atlantic in 2010, Kelly was an Associate at the New York law firm Hutner Klarish LLP, where she advised smaller hedge funds on fund formation, drafted codes of conduct, and guided clients in establishing compliance programs. She holds a B.A. in Political Psychology from Lafayette College and a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School.

I am honored and excited to join the Board of Directors of the Global Fund for Children. What draws me most to GFC is its unique model of global reach with deeply local impact. The organization partners directly with community-based groups around the world—those closest to the issues—ensuring that support reaches children and youth where it can make an immediate and meaningful difference.

Kelly added, “GFC’s work exemplifies sustainable philanthropy, empowering local leaders and creating lasting change rather than temporary aid. I have been especially inspired by John and Hayley’s leadership—their motivation, strong global network, and steadfast focus on GFC’s mission are matched by their genuine care and compassion. Their approach reinforces my belief that thoughtful, connected, and values-driven leadership can transform communities and lives.”

“Kelly Pettit will be an outstanding addition to GFC’s Global Board of Directors,” said John Hecklinger, GFC’s Co-CEO. “Kelly brings exceptional leadership from her work at General Atlantic, where she has helped shape strong governance, compliance, and privacy practices across a global organization. Her ability to build thoughtful systems and guide complex regulatory environments will be a tremendous asset to GFC. Kelly’s expertise and values align deeply with our commitment to trust, accountability, and community-led impact, and I’m excited for the insight she will bring to our Board.”
