Michael Nabieu

Michael Nabieu grew up in Sierra Leone, where climate-induced flooding devastated communities and farmland, and forced him to pause his education. He co-founded the Forum for Agriculture, Innovation, and Empowerment for Children and Youth (FAIECY-SL) – a youth-led organization that educates young people about climate change and empowers young people across Sierra Leone and Africa to take sustainable action against the climate crisis.

Michael’s message of hope for you:

Growing up in Sierra Leone, I've seen how quickly hope can take root when young people are given the chance to lead, whether it's protecting the environment or lifting up their own communities. That's the story I carry with me: change doesn't wait for permission; it starts with people who choose to act. I believe in the power of young people and in the power of collective action, and the future isn't something that happens to us, it's something we build together.
