GFC Announces New Safeguarding Policy
Global Fund for Children is proud to announce the release of its Global Safeguarding Policy. The policy outlines our commitment to ensuring that the work we and our partners do inflicts no harm to children and youth and places safety as a top priority.
GFC’s Designated Safeguarding Lead, Hayley Roffey, led the development of the policy and subsequent training for all staff and the Global Board.
“Safeguarding is a complex area, especially for an organization like GFC that supports grassroots organizations all over the world,” Hayley said. “Legal expectations and responsibilities change from country to country, and it was a challenge for us to ensure we placed children and youth at the center of our policy, while supporting the organizations we work with in upholding safe practices and implementing the law.”
GFC’s policy outlines its code of conduct for staff, as well as reporting and response procedures, which clearly indicate the routes for staff, volunteers, partners, and others to take whenever a concern arises.
Staff received training in the policy in September 2018 and the safeguarding team is now focused on achieving its implementation plan over the next year. The policy will be reviewed and updated annually.
