Photographer Biographies

 

2007–2008 Fellow: Tadej Znidarcic

Tadej Znidarcic was the fourth recipient of the GFC/ICP Fellowship. Znidarcic was born in Slovenia and is currently based in New York City. Znidarcic received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia. In 2007, he completed the International Center of Photography’s program in documentary photography and photojournalism. Znidarcic was the recipient of the 2007 George and Joyce Moss Scholarship for Photojournalism, and his work has been published in various magazines in Slovenia and Italy. Recently, Znidarcic spent one month in Nairobi, Kenya, documenting the lives of street children living in two community shelters. In addition, he has captured images and stories pertaining to polio in northern Nigeria and recycling efforts in Albania.

2006–2007 Fellow: Malin Fezehai

Malin Fezehai is a Swedish photographer based in New York City. After studying photography in Sweden, she attended the full-time program at the International Center of Photography in New York. Her work consists of long-term projects in Europe, the Americas, and Africa.

Fezehai has just completed a project about family life in Ghana and has collaborated with a number of nonprofit organizations. While living in Ethiopia for half a year, she worked on a long-term project about children. She has also worked as a volunteer at Mother Theresa's orphanage for HIV-positive children in Ethiopia. Most recently, Fezehai was awarded The Global Fund for Children/International Center of Photography Fellowship.

2005–2006 Fellow: Jessica Dimmock

Jessica Dimmock was the second recipient of the GFC/ICP Fellowship. Dimmock received a bachelor’s degree from Lewis and Clark College and a master’s degree in science in education from Long Island University. In 2005, she completed the documentary photography and photojournalism program at the International Center of Photography. Her work has appeared in Aperture, The New York Times Magazine, Fortune, Time, New York Magazine, Newsweek, Wired, and Fader. She was awarded the F Award for Concerned Photography from Forma and Fabrica, the Inge Morath Award from Magnum Photos, the Marty Forscher Fellowship Award for Documentary Photography from PDN, and the Juror’s Choice Award in the Santa Fe Center for Photography’s Project Competition. Dimmock’s first book, The Ninth Floor, was published by Contrasto in fall 2007 and was listed by Photo District News as one of the best books of 2007. Dimmock facilitated her first international solo exhibition at Forma, The International Center of Photography, in Milan. In spring 2008, she arranged for two additional solo exhibitions at Foam (Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam) in Amsterdam, and at the Foley Gallery in Chelsea, New York.

2004–2005 Fellow: Andrea Camuto

Andrea Camuto was the first recipient of the GFC/ICP Fellowship. A graduate of Oberlin College, she completed the International Center of Photography’s program in photojournalism and documentary photography in 2004. Her work as a GFC/ICP fellow resulted in the GFC publication Aspire, which won a 2006 Wilmer Shields Rich Award from the Council on Foundations, and a solo exhibition, “Children of India and Cambodia,” at Gallery ArtsIndia in New York City. In 2005, Andrea covered women's issues in Afghanistan, and her photo-essay on the Afghan elections appeared in Ms. Magazine in 2006. Her current projects include a cross-cultural study of midwifery and a documentary on women in West Africa. She is based in New York City.
